When we find ourselves in times of trouble, we do what we always do - turn to music.

How come the essential workers get minimum wage, dangerous conditions & no sick days
While Senators get insider trades
And Italy’s out of coffins and Italy’s out of graves
The hospitals are gonna need barricades
‘Cos some fools won’t let a virus mess with Spring Break
I’m talkin them Covid-19 blues

And how come the nurses and docs can’t get a mask much less a ventilator to handle the task
At hand? Being told they’re on the way is pretty damn vague when you’re dying today
Scumbags hoarding sanitizer and toilet paper
For tantalizing prices, it’s quite the caper
Lord I’m talking Covid-19 blues

Empty shelves aren’t a sign of need but rather a picture of panic and shameless greed
We can’t see the forest ‘cos we can’t see the trees
The Faithful share a glass o holy water on bloody knees
Death lurks on door handles and hides in the breeze and there ain’t no ease for these
Covid-19 blues
And that's the truth

You know, it’d be great if we could get some tests - not for stars and ballplayers but the rest
Of us - especially first responders so we just might have a chance to conquer
This damn thing without wondering when’s
The next time i’ll see my family or friends
Ah the road goes on forever but this party just might end
Talking them Covid-19 blues

A hard rain’s falling and a reckoning is near so will you heed the call when the coast is clear?
Or will you login again and just turn off
let the old guard have the power they thought they lost
I know what side I’m on when this is all done
